Building a new report starts with picking a data source or the fields that matter to you. From there, Blue Link guides you to the related tables you can link in, so your team does not need to know the underlying database structure. Want to report on open orders? Start with the invoice header, link in the invoice footer to pull product details, and add customer information when needed. The system handles the table relationships in the background.
You can search for fields across tables, drag and drop columns into the order you want, set numeric formatting like commas and decimals, and add column aliases so the report reads cleanly for whoever uses it.
Calculated columns for richer insights
The report builder supports four types of calculated columns:
- Concatenation: combine fields like address line, city, state, and country into a single, clean address block.
- Arithmetic: run calculations across numeric fields, such as margins or unit conversions.
- Date difference: measure the days between two dates, like order entry to ship date.
- Summary: roll up values for subtotals and totals.
